08/29/1809 HOLMES was born at Cambridge, Massachusetts, August 29, 1809

Approx 1829 At the age of twenty he graduated at Harvard University, then took up the study of law

1836 took his degree as doctor of medicine at Cambridge

1836 collected his poems into a volume.

1838 appointed to the chair of Anatomy and Physiology in Dartmouth College

1847 appointed to the chair of Anatomy and Physiology in Harvard College

1858 The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table

1872 he published Mechanism in Thought and Morals

1894 died October 7, 1894.
